Sell Crypto for Cash in Canggu
Rupiah brought to your villa, your cafe table, or the co-working spot you are already sitting in. You count the cash and hold it first, and the crypto only moves once you are satisfied. No Indonesian bank account, no KITAS, no exchange sign-up.
Chat on WhatsAppCanggu runs on two things that do not get along: crypto income and paper Rupiah. A lot of people here are paid in USDT, hold their savings on-chain, and then hit a wall the moment they need physical cash for something local. This page is about that gap, and how people in Berawa, Batu Bolong, Pererenan and the lanes in between usually close it.
Why cash is awkward in Canggu specifically
Bali is a cash island generally, but Canggu concentrates the problem, because the people here tend to need larger amounts of cash while having the least access to the normal ways of getting it.
The bank account you cannot open
Opening an Indonesian bank account generally requires a KITAS. On a tourist visa or a visa-on-arrival, you usually do not have one, and without a local account the standard P2P route is closed to you: no account to receive the Rupiah into. This is the single biggest reason cash delivery exists as a category here, and it is why the answer to "just use an exchange" so often does not land in Canggu.
Rent that wants cash, in lumps
Villa and long-stay rentals in the Canggu area are frequently settled in cash, and often not monthly, but several months at a time. That turns into a single large Rupiah requirement that no ATM is built to serve. Add the scooter rental deposit, the warungs that never took a card, and the builder or landlord who prefers paper, and the shortfall is not theoretical.
ATM limits that punish exactly this
Many Bali ATMs cap foreign-card withdrawals at roughly Rp 1,500,000 to Rp 3,000,000 per transaction, and the fees are largely fixed per withdrawal rather than proportional. So the more cash you need, the worse the machine gets: you repeat the run, and every fixed charge lands again. We broke the arithmetic down in how nomads avoid sky-high ATM fees in Bali, and Canggu is where that maths bites hardest, because the amounts are big and the trips are frequent.
The short version: ATM fees are mostly fixed, so they hurt most when you need a lot of cash. An OTC spread is a percentage quoted once. The bigger the amount, the more the comparison tips away from the machine.
Where we deliver in Canggu
Canggu sits inside our South Bali zone, so the working ETA is 20 to 40 minutes from the moment a rate is agreed. Areas we reach as standard:
- Berawa: villas, the beach club strip, and the co-working spots along the main road.
- Batu Bolong: the cafe belt and the lanes running down to the beach.
- Echo Beach: including the quieter blocks back from the sand.
- Pererenan: the rice-field gangs, where a pin beats an address every time.
- Nelayan and Tiying Tutul: the smaller lanes between the main strips.
Further out towards Seseh or Cemagi is still fine; it may simply add a few minutes. If you are somewhere genuinely off the map, send the pin and we will give you an honest ETA before you commit to anything. The full island breakdown, including Central Bali and the remote zones, is on the service area section.
Send a pin, not an address. Much of Canggu is unnamed gangs and repeating numbers. Every agent here navigates by dropped pin and landmark. If your lane is too tight for a scooter to reach the door, we will agree a meeting point at the entrance.
How a Canggu cash-out works
Four steps, and the order is the point: the cash reaches you before your crypto goes anywhere.
- Message on WhatsApp with the coin, the amount, and roughly where in Canggu you are. Replies usually come back inside five minutes, and you get a firm rate before anything is agreed.
- The agent rides to you. Your villa, a cafe table, a co-working space, wherever you would rather be. 20 to 40 minutes across Canggu.
- You count the cash. It is in your hands, and you verify the full amount, before any crypto moves. This is the part that makes the rest safe.
- You send the crypto wallet-to-wallet, on the spot, once you are satisfied. Then the agent leaves.
If you want the reasoning behind that sequence, and why it removes the risk that P2P and escrow leave sitting on you, OTC vs P2P vs exchanges covers it properly.
What it costs against the ATM route
There is no per-withdrawal fee and no limit to work around. You get one all-in rate, quoted on WhatsApp before you commit, and delivery is part of it. Against a foreign-card ATM run, which can quietly cost a foreigner in the region of 8 to 12 percent once the home bank fee, the operator fee and the conversion markup are all counted, the gap widens as the amount grows.
Rates move with the market, so we quote per transaction rather than publish a number that would be stale by lunchtime. Ask on WhatsApp and you will get the figure before any commitment.
Cash in Canggu, in under an hour
Send the coin, the amount, and your pin. An agent brings the Rupiah to you, and you count it before any crypto moves.
Chat on WhatsAppCanggu questions
How fast can you deliver cash in Canggu?
Canggu sits in our South Bali zone, so an agent typically reaches you in 20 to 40 minutes once the rate is agreed. WhatsApp replies usually come back in under five minutes. Traffic along the Canggu Shortcut and Berawa at sunset is the main variable, and we will tell you honestly if it will be closer to 40 than 20.
Which parts of Canggu do you cover?
All of it, including Berawa, Batu Bolong, Echo Beach, Pererenan, Nelayan and Tiying Tutul. If you are further out towards Seseh or Cemagi, that is still fine, it may just add a few minutes to the ETA.
Can you deliver to a cafe or co-working space instead of my villa?
Yes, and plenty of people prefer it. A busy cafe or co-working spot is a perfectly good handover point, and some customers find a public table more comfortable than giving out their villa address. Tell us where you will be sitting and the agent meets you there.
My villa in Pererenan has no proper address. How will you find me?
Drop a pin on WhatsApp instead of typing an address. Half of Canggu is gang numbers and unnamed lanes, so a pin plus a landmark is what our agents actually use. If the lane is too narrow, we will agree a meeting point at the entrance.
Do I need an Indonesian bank account or a KITAS to cash out in Canggu?
No. That is the main reason nomads use a cash desk here. Opening an Indonesian bank account generally requires a KITAS, which most people on a tourist or visa-on-arrival do not have, and that also rules out the usual P2P route. Cash delivery needs neither: no account, no exchange KYC.
Can I cash out enough to pay a few months of villa rent?
Yes. Larger amounts are routine, they just work better with a little notice so the agent arrives with the right denominations. Message us with the figure and we will confirm the rate and the ETA before anyone commits to anything.
